Your Place, Your Plan

Lochgelly's Local Plan

Lochgelly Community Council is proud to launch a new Local Place Plan. An independent, community-led initiative designed to shape the future of Lochgelly through the voices of those who live, work & play here. It’s a genuine opportunity to build a plan that reflects real priorities, real ideas, and real ambition.

What’s Happening?

In partnership with the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, we’re inviting residents to share three wishes for a better Lochgelly and there’s no limit to what you can suggest. This process is open to everyone, which is why we have different ways of giving us your wishes.

Where to Find Our Postcard & Collection Boxes
You can share your 3 wishes for Lochgelly by filling in a postcard and returning it to one of our collection boxes located across the town. Postcards & Boxes are available at Lochgelly South Primary School, Lochgelly West Primary School, St Patrick’s Primary School, the Sunflower Nurture Centre, Lochgelly Centre, and the Hyper Club Lochgelly. Many thanks to these locations for assisting us. We’ve tried to make it easier for everyone, whether you live, work, learn, or play in Lochgelly to take part and ensure every voice is heard in shaping our Local Place Plan.

If you would prefer to do this online, just click the “Give us your 3 wishes here” button below to go to the website.

 What Happens Next?

All submissions will be gathered and reviewed. The most popular ideas will be carried forward into the formal Local Place Plan, which will guide future funding bids, community projects, and strategic advocacy. Every suggestion will be scrutinised and may also be included in the published literature, ensuring full transparency and recognition of community input.

This is a chance to build a plan that’s by Lochgelly, for Lochgelly without gatekeeping or deflection. The Local Place Plan will be a living document, shaped by real people, real needs, and real ambition.

Why It Matters

Local Place Plans are a new tool introduced by the Scottish Government to empower communities to influence land use, development, and investment. By leading this process independently, Lochgelly Community Council ensures that our voices are not diluted or deferred. This is a genuine opportunity to set priorities, demand change, and build a resilient, inclusive future.

Get Involved

We urge every resident, group, and business to take part, your ideas matter. Let’s make Lochgelly a place where community-led change isn’t just possible, it’s already happening.
